each dot of you a particle comes through they fade the lights for only us this room a lonely moon peeks through easily, for you and me the room goes dark your fingers trace the way it whirs so loud, the spin of the machine makes me the little kid i've always been the dome just disappears we stare up, a sky of mirrors without the atmosphere somehow we breathe will i see you in stars? the constellations part will i see you in stars? the brightest point of light and though we are still worlds apart from here the galaxy is not enough for me. your silhouette, the lights cannot repeat a pantomime of hands across the sheet sink in the chairs till you see satellites reveal to you you hesitate, but i'm prepared to wait

I dreamt of mountaintops of lava flowing south my bedroom turned to ash as fire ate my house i sprinted back so fast until our van took off but i could feel the heat the tires melted off i'm alive i made it through another night i'm alive i didn't know my life was mine surrounded by the sharks my paradise collapsed against the bluest sky would they rip me in half? i paddled like a ghost but they caught up so fast a fin against my arms i take my final lap i suspend like water over the falls - i didn't know what i had dreamt like a film with missing reels -- i am lost - i didn't see where it began

Wonder aloud about the tinge I feel The static i store within my wrists Sprinting the city now I see you briefly i can’t be quiet, can’t be still Don’t have to be a mess You are my skin Without you i am less i hold you in Could not survive a wreck You are my sin Without you, I’m the rest i hold you in The buzzing inside my chest just feels like bees Been failing to jar it up for weeks If I could relay to you the waves I feel They threaten to drown me, hold my breath
4.
03:38
When all the city's dark When all the sirens stop its midnight with the high beams on i never ask aloud The miles and minutes separate Within this room i’ll wait, i’ll wait you've never needed rescuing the tide is low lets walk right in. The ocean knows what you withhold -let go I want the rest of you you never mention wars you lost when all the shooting stopped the decade where you came apart but you've kept count of hidden scars i want to know of every snow of every shouting episode you've kept afloat with air you own but take my hand - don't swim alone at night, give in you cry so soon if you have to leave then i'll leave with you.

whip around like a hurricane that's how i met you then under better circumstance could the world have spun our way? you're my north star in the dark release light constantly like a fever in my heart ever since i'm wobbling every time i look, my heart stops beating every time i think i'm right, i'm turned about i still struggle to define what 'this' is for some reason i can never turn you down every time i think we've lost our meaning even if we're done my heart can't turn away even though i think you want the world i just want to turn this thing around on a cliff - a precipice you call out to me like the love i have never touched not the friend that i have been but like a blizzard in a sphere you shook my outsides in i can't withstand all the turbulence every turn is damaging

03:46
when i first heard you speak a sirena at sea all my movements had ceased an anchored fleet every boat now would stop halting waves in the dark cannot move even when i chose in the three weeks we've seen marionette i have been but your toys never sleep a broken beat nights begin, waltzes start cut the strings, fall apart moving to any song you choose its something that you left me its something that you wrote me abandon what i said you whisper it so gently this echo that you left me decaying in my legs, my chest, my head it's so good.

05:06
i am a stranger wherever i go A flash light at midnight aglow like a ghost, i float alone would i see if someone was signalling me? launching flares in the blue above the sea. but when i look around, i am where i should be in the dark i shine like an new memory but the rain won't stop - it's too warm to leave. am i home now? i'm home now. i am a house made of paper mache constructed to crumble today take a card, the walls decay. would i see if they sent a beacon for me? launching flares in the blue above the sea.

05:01
my ears are filled with lyrics of last night we made a wish to keep a lock of light if i could sing to you - the riddles that we grew present a key to open every room are we moving in separate ways am i willing you now to stay can we just stop and destroy the space? should we stay up all night should we turn off the lights we used to sing a secret call/response until we chose the notes that could be lost you were the words i knew - the melody i choose a hundred years of hymns would fill the air
9.
05:06
i grew up your clone could not breathe or exist alone but i want much more my first dream of a space unknown a vast sea just beyond the shore but will i follow the patterns of old? will i carve out directions my heart won't disown? but can i dive beyond the waves to make it through the tide unscathed? can i cast off your shadow alone? every story’s yours when i speak, i repeat your lore but your sway, your pull cannot be all my orbit knows
10.
04:37
standing next to you it never seemed a pointless thing to do we would pass a word between us every hour sentences just seemed to flower no one searched for me the waves abated when you'd count to 3 even when your house was continents apart your letters filled me up we live so half awake i want to take you so far away with everything to prove I want to take you so far away but every time we change our hearts in the dark all i want to do is live by the rain if i could set the way i want to take you so far away grow tall with you a lottery of sorts i entered through tossing paper airplanes through the night we'd both turn off our lights morse code melodies encoding every song you hummed for me and even though the skies were kept by you alone this time i'll hold my own but can't change the way i've seen hurricanes can't change their flow even though we both have compasses, i am lost without. plan cautiously your chutes and ladders shatter carelessly even though you've always been the stronger one i know that things go wrong
11.
04:10
meant it when i said i had to lie about the words i had to keep the shouting in my sleep burning in my bed has driven you away can you come back tonight? a fire left to say i'll never be home without you i want to be whole again i'll never be home without you our eyes in the darkness but where do we start? used to tracing out the lines of sand myself it's my raining in my hair there's paper everywhere well we can't stop now and all because the world won't stop to mend our loss
12.
05:35
if i ever see your face in a crowd will i run? Will i hesitate? a look of you burn every one to dust and yet i still follow north remember when you used to be content with how the rain would feel. cities fall down when they let you out in the world still I call out the way for you. every foot that trampled you under ground you crush with a whispered word the shockwaves from your hands lay buildings flat the wake in your path means that i can't forget you used to be a blade of grass beneath concrete.

about

Mike and Emil Favila always wanted to make electronic music, they just didn't know where to start. They didn't know any producers, so Mike just bought some music software and a guidebook. Neither of them played keyboards, so Emil started watching shaky tutorials on YouTube. They didn't have an endless budget, so they build a studio at home and started recording. After a while, it just seemed easier to handle it themselves.

Every guitar and keyboard riff, every drum roll (programmed or played), every Beach Boys harmony would be recorded in their basement. Though the brothers didn't plan it this way, this new music married the sweetness of the synthpop they sang along with in the Philippines, but still held the tension and urgency of the Washington, DC bands they worshipped.

The debut album from Atoms Apart is called White Label, in tribute to those handmade bootleg records, discreetly identified by a rubber stamp logo. The entire album was recorded and mixed by Mike, with help from John Maheu (Pietasters). White Label was mastered by Huntley Miller (Zedd, Bad Plus, Owsla). The album contains an alternate mix from Fractal (BT, Au5) and a remix from MadScience. White Label is out now on Bandcamp, Itunes, Google Play, Amazon MP3 and all major digital outlets.
